You own it outright, so it stays with you and your home whether or not you stay on the plan, and it gives you full control of your home temperature from your phone. One thing to know: if you cancel within the first 12 months we do recover a prorated share of the hardware cost, up to $200. Homes with more than one zone can add a thermostat at a member rate.

Yes. Our maintenance plans are month-to-month with no long-term contracts, and there is no cancellation penalty on the plan itself. The one exception is Premier: if we already installed your free Ecobee thermostat and you cancel inside the first 12 months, we recover a prorated share of that hardware, up to $200. Cancel after 12 months, or on Essential or Comfort, and you owe nothing beyond the month you are in. Most members stay because the savings and priority service more than cover the monthly cost.

Honest answer: the federal 25C tax credit that used to cover up to $2,000 for heat pump installations expired on December 31, 2025 and is not available for systems installed in 2026 or later. The good news is the New York State and PSEG Long Island programs are still active, and they are the bigger numbers anyway.
